Elaine Franz Witten
Elaine Franz Witten received art education at Connecticut College, Columbia University and was a student at the Carving Studio, West Rutland, Vermont. She also studied with Jane Armstrong, FNSS. Ms. Witten’s bronze sculpture has been shown in national and international exhibitions and awarded numerous prizes. Her two latest awards are in 2007 from Manhattan Arts International’s “Celebrate Her Story 2007” exhibition where she received the “Best in Sculpture award” and an exhibition at the Academic Artist’s Association, Greenfield, Massachusetts, where she received the “Prize for Excellence in Sculpture” from the Council of American Artists’ Societies, Inc. She is represented by the Lenox Gallery, Lenox, Massachusetts, Polonaise Gallery, Woodstock, Vermont, and Landmark Gallery, Kennebunkport, Maine. Ms. Witten’s commissions and corporate works are on public display in Vermont, Pennsylvania, New York and Alaska. Her bronze sculptures are in private collections across the US, in Canada and in the private collection of Kin Abdullah Miteb Ben Saud, Saudi Arabia. Visit Elaine Franz Witten online!

This four-day sculpture workshop will teach the artistic elements of sculpture. The goal will be for each student to build a wire armature for either a standing figure, standing animal or a portrait and then carry this to completion. Reference materials will be provided. Armature parts, wood bases and twenty pounds of oil-based clay per student will be available for purchase directly from the instructor at cost. Elaine Witten’s DVD on the lost wax method of bronze casting will be shown.
