Robert K. Carsten, PSA
Robert is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Connecticut Pastel Society. He is a regular contributing writer to The Pastel Journal and The Artist’s Magazine. Also a noted arts juror, he is the juror of selection for the 2010 national exhibition of the Pastel Society of New Hampshire and was a juror of selection for the 2009 national exhibition of the Pastel Society of
New Mexico, awards judge for the 2009 Pastel Painters of Maine Members Exhibition, the 2008 Connecticut Pastel Society Members’ Exhibition, and co-judge of awards for the Academic Artists Association 2008 National Exhibition. A nationally recognized artist, he was invited by The Pastel Journal to be one of eight “well-known artists” to comment on selected pastel masterpieces. He has won numerous awards including a Juror’s Choice Award at Southern Vermont Art Center’s 53rd National Fall Open Exhibition, “Best in Show” at the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition and the Connecticut Pastel Society’s Honor Award. His work has appeared in Pure Color/The Best of Pastel
by North Light books, American Art Review, and other publications, and he was featured in and on
the cover of The Pastel Journal in 2004. His art is shown in galleries and museums, nationally.

countryside hamlets, this workshop will give you the
knowledge and ‘tools’ to create breathtaking space and
believable form. Pastel paint lakeside harbors and hamlets,
learn about watery reflections, glancing light, transparent
shadows, light effect, linear and atmospheric perspective
and more. All levels welcome. |
