The Dukes of Dixieland blow traditional jazz and Dixieland into the 21st century, weaving strands of pop, gospel, and country with authentic New Orleans sounds. The Dukes have worn their New Orleans jazz heritage proudly as globe-trotting jazz ambassadors from the heart of the Big Easy. They are the oldest continuing Dixieland jazz band and have sold out such venues as The Hollywood Bowl, the Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian, to name but a few. Bright and brassy or smooth and dark as cane syrup, the Dukes bring a time-honored authenticity to all of the hits of Dixie’s yesteryear.

Vocalist Walt Andrus. joins “the world’s most recorded orchestra” in a salute to the Chairman of the Board. Reviewing a performance in The Stage (UK), October, 2008, Lisa Martland wrote: “To hear this outstanding 17-piece orchestra reproduce memorable tracks from such classic albums as Sinatra’s Songs for Swingin’ Lovers and Only the Lonely must have been a treat for those in the audience who remembered the records first time round, but it was also a delight for those of us who have rarely had the opportunity to hear the music played so well live.” For more information, visit

The Ellis Marsalis Trio
Ellis Marsalis on piano, Roland Guerin on bass and
Jason Marsalis on drums
Friday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m.
Floor Side Reserved: $45
Premium Reserved: $55
The Friday night fixture at New Orleans’ famed Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro, pianist Ellis Marsalis leads son and drummer Jason Marsalis and bassist, Roland Guerin. At his core, Ellis Marsalis is a modern jazz musician, a term that carried particular weight in the Fifties and Sixties – especially in New Orleans, a city where tourism demanded jazz musicians be nothing more than traditionalists. Ellis was different, attuned to jazz’s future. He developed a lean and commanding approach to the piano trio and helped create a modern movement in New Orleans while also educating the next generation of jazz: Terence Blanchard, Donald Harrison, Nicholas Payton, Harry Connick Jr., Peter Cincotti, and, of course, all those Marsalis Brothers.
