Information & Policies
From the beginner to the seasoned artist, and even the curious wanting to explore a new medium, the Arts Center offers a wide variety to suit your needs.
The Southern Vermont Arts Center's Art Workshops offer an invigorating combination of studio and plein-air instruction employing a variety of media for all skill levels. Learn from renowned, world class artist-instructors at our historic campus surrounded by some of Vermont's most breathtaking scenery. Each season we offer both our popular as well as new workshop opportunities to keep the schedule fresh.
The format of a class as opposed to a workshop is that instead of occuring in consecutive days, a class will meet on a staggered schedule such as once a week for a set number of weeks. Classes offer a different type of scheduling commitment for students whom are unable to take the amount of time off that a workshop would require.
On-going Programs are all-level opportunities that include our Open Studio, Figure Drawing and Studio Uncorked programs.
Open Studio allows artists to use our studio spaces to work on their own projects. This privelege is only eligible for members, and requires calling ahead to check availability.
Figure Drawing is currently offered for 10 weeks on Tuesday afternoons in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Schedule subject to change and will be updated on website.
Studio Uncorked classes occur monthly, are open to the public, and join social enjoyment with step-by-step painting equipped with all materials including wine and food.
Children's Programming peaks in the summer time when SVAC offers a variety of week-long camps for grades K-8. Parents and caregivers can choose from Full Day and Half Day camps in many different interestes including nature, drama, and a variety of visual art mediums. We also offer winter and spring break camps in February and April.
Early registration allows us to plan appropriately and avoid last minute cancelations. Because of our obligation to instructors, full payment for each class or workshop is required at registration. A 50% refund will be given to students who cancel 12 or more days prior to the start of the class or workshop. A full refund will be made only when the class or workshop is cancelled by the Arts Center.
The Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class or workshop in which the minimum enrollment is not met. Class/Workshop size is limited and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. A reserved space is guaranteed once we have received payment. In certain circumstances, we allow a 50% deposit to be made on a class or workshop, with the agreement that the remaining 50% of tuition will be remitted by the deadline to register.
SVAC does not confirm registration. The Arts Center makes calls to students only in the event of class postponement or cancellation. Assume a class or workshop is running unless otherwise notified 8 days prior to start date.
