Annual Solo Exhibition Program
EXHIBIT AT SVAC Yester House
Each year, the Southern Vermont Arts Center welcomes a variety of artists to present solo exhibitions in Yester House, a 1917 estate-turned-gallery that can accommodate 10 exhibiting artists.
This application is for SVAC’s 2025 season. There will be two rounds of solo exhibitions.
Artists in Round 1 will exhibit their work from February 22 to May 25.
Artists in Round 2 will exhibit their work from June 7 to August 31.
Applicants must choose to apply to either Round 1 or Round 2. All applications are due by October 1.
- Round 1 will be notified by November 1.
- Round 2 will be notified by December 20.
There are three sections in the application. In Section 1, you will provide an overview of your experience as an artist, share why you are interested in SVAC’s Solo Exhibition program, and introduce the body of work you are interested in exhibiting. In Section 2, you will review and acknowledge the key terms and conditions that are part of participating in SVAC’s Solo Exhibition program. In Section 3, you will provide 3-4 visuals of proposed works of art for exhibition at SVAC.
Eligibility:
- Applications are open to artists 18 years or older, working in the following disciplines: painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, fiber, glass, ceramic, wood, metal, mixed media, digital media, and photography.
- All exhibited artworks must be available for sale (no pre-sales or NFS works unless approved by SVAC’s Manager of Exhibitions & Interpretive Engagement).
Note: over the last four years, solo exhibition art sales have ranged from $250 to $6,500. Most sales are under $2,000.
In an effort to remove barriers to participation, SVAC will offer modest scholarships to deserving participants. In particular, we are committed to supporting artists who identify as members of groups that historically have been excluded from the art gallery and museum fields. This includes artists from diverse racial or ethnic communities as well as artists with disabilities, who identify as LGBTQ+, and/or who come from low-income backgrounds. If accepted to the program, artists will have the opportunity to request financial support.
